Abstract: Women make tremendous contribution to the economic development of any country and this contribution needs to be recognized. Empirical evidence shows that women contribute significantly to the running of family businesses mostly in the form of unpaid effort and skills. The value of this effort is underestimated both by the families and the society. It describes the current scenario of the woman and her enterprise, highlighting the emerging perspectives which should help policy makers, financial institutions, government agencies, training organizations, and Non Government Organizations to design and implement measures to facilitate entrepreneurship among women and ensure credit availability. An attempt has been made in this paper to highlight the central role that credit plays in the lives of Women Micro Entrepreneurs and the credit facility available for women today, to be able to start an enterprise, and whether the women are aware of micro credit its benefits and problems in their day to day operations.
